GovComm 2012
Nov. 28-29 | Washington, D.C.
Haivision, Booth 435
Haivision at GovComm 2012:
Haivision, JITC Certified for 1080p HD performance, will feature a range of solutions that address the mission critical needs of the government and military markets at GovComm 2012. The company will have one of its first public showings of the new Makito(TM) X Series encoding platform, which delivers new levels of industry-leading density and quality by combining unmatched HD encoding at bit rates below 2 Mbps -- making it ideal for broadcast applications and high profile contribute-grade encoding. Haivision will also be highlighting the Furnace(TM) IP video distribution system, the ruggedized HD H.264 Makito Air(TM) encoder with full KLV/CoT metadata capabilities, and the Kraken(TM) for high performance, low latency IP video transcoding.
Haivision Enterprise IP Video Solutions at GovComm 2012:
Makito(TM) X Series -- Extreme encoding with double the quality and double the density, the Makito(TM) X2 H.264 1080p60 performance encoder offers an incredible 55 milliseconds of encoding latency and AES encryption. Often used in conjunction with the Furnace(TM) end-to-end IP video distribution system, the next generation Makito X2 encoder combines a market-proven feature set with a six fold increase in encoding power to deliver quantum advances in picture quality and density. The Makito X2 delivers superb high-quality HD video using half of the bandwidth of comparable encoders.

Furnace(TM) -- The Furnace(TM) IP video distribution system provides a complete infrastructure for delivering secure video to every desktop and display within a government/federal facility. With the Furnace, users can record any source, apply metadata, and deliver live or recorded content or video on-demand to any screen. The Furnace allows administrators granular control over the media within a facility and a harmonized experience for all users. Combined with the Makito(TM) and/or Barracuda(TM) encoders, the Furnace provides encrypted video from the source to every player and display. Adding conditional access gives facilities the ability to control who can see what media to ensure a high level of security.

Makito Air(TM) -- The JITC certified Makito Air(TM) incorporates the unrivaled performance and power of the Makito HD H.264 encoder in a ruggedized chassis and couples this with full KLV/CoT metadata capabilities. The Makito Air addresses the most demanding intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) challenges by delivering H.264 up to 1080p60 video with metadata to IP with as low as 55 milliseconds of encoding latency. The Makito Air is based on the same chip level components, circuit board, and firmware as the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Makito encoder.

Kraken(TM) -- The Kraken(TM) is designed for performance IP video transcoding, primarily for use with Transport Stream to Transport Stream systems. The Kraken is used within enterprises for high bandwidth broadcast streams while the Kraken ISR, in addition to the base Kraken's features, provides extreme low-latency transcoding for metadata rich applications. Within the domain of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) metadata, typically KLV is included in addition to the full motion video (FMV) stream. The Kraken ISR can easily disseminate the information, allowing the video stream to be formatted for any downstream systems and users, while maintaining all metadata. This is done with the lowest possible delay (150-750 msec.) and maintains frame-accurate metadata synchronization.

Pro Media Conference Speaking Session at GovComm 2012/GV Expo 2012:
How to Stream Full Motion Video to Mobile Devices Using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Technologies
Andy Vaughan, VP, U.S. Federal Sales, Haivision
Nov. 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., Room 209B
Video over IP to mobile devices is enabling government and military organizations to deliver mission-critical, low-latency HD streaming anywhere, anytime. Full-motion video (FMV) deployments range from command and control support, logistics missions, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for both intelligence analysts around the world and active personnel on the ground. To date, many of the portable systems capable of viewing these feeds have been custom-built and tied to specific data links. But today, Federal departments such as the Department of Defense are increasingly turning to commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies to lower the risks associated with system integration and accelerate the delivery of mobile-based solutions.
Executive Quote:
"At GovComm 2012 Haivision is presenting a full range of technologies that address the very specific needs of government and military professionals looking for mission-critical performance, proven security, and streaming simplicity. We are offering attendees a look at the new Makito X encoding platform, as well as the Furnace, Makito Air, and Kraken, which offer advanced solutions for those who require encrypted video for secure streaming applications, or can combine support for multiple video encoding sources with ultra-low latency features. Understanding mission-critical applications, Haivision is proud to be able to offer the fastest H.264 compression with wide support for CoT/KLV metadata, superior compression efficiency, and wide interoperability with existing exploitation systems as well as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology solutions."
