#DidYouKnow: The AV Mounts & Structures Process

Aug. 21, 2024 - In this fast-paced world your customers seem to want everything yesterday. But even in the hi-tech AV industry, moving too fast can have disastrous consequences. Some things can’t be rushed to a successful outcome. One of those things is designing and manufacturing a custom LED video wall mounting solution.

When we are approached with questions about providing a custom structure, one of the first questions we get is, “How long will this take?” The second question is then, “Why does it take so long?”

A thorough, correctly executed custom design and manufacturing project takes anywhere from 10-14 weeks to complete. It requires a multi-step process with precise implementation and quality checks at each step to create the right quality solution for each application. Leaving out any of the steps, or not giving one of them full attention, only leads to quality issues down the road.

Here is our complete AVMS design and manufacturing process, from the sale through installation:

  • Order/PO Receipt: This step officially begins the process.
  • Kickoff Meeting: The Project Manager brings together the stakeholders to determine project goals, resources and support required, and project timeline.
  • Design Solution: Engineers develop a custom design.
  • Sign Off Drawing: The Project Manager presents this to the client for design approval.
  • PE Review: A Professional Engineer reviews the design to ensure it is safe in application conditions and is in compliance with local codes.
  • Design is Finalized: We make any required changes and release the design for production.
  • Fabrication: The production cell custom manufactures all parts to exceptionally tight tolerances.
  • Assembly: We assemble the custom structure in our own manufacturing facility to verify form, fit, and function.
  • Pack/Ship: We carefully pack each piece for safety and ease of removal and use on the jobsite.
  • Installation: The custom structure is assembled onsite, and the displays are attached. The displays are adjusted to create a flawless single image. Commissioning may also be required before the project is considered complete.

Providing a safe, high quality custom mounting solution is more than shipping parts and pieces to a jobsite for installers to modify and assemble. It requires careful planning and patience. The end result is worth the attention to detail.
