Telmex Offers to the Enterprise Market New World-Class Telecommunication Solutions with Cisco Technology
Posted on Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Mexico City, June 22, 2011 - In order to increase its world-class service offer, Telmex, working with Cisco as a technological partner, will offer new collaboration solutions for the enterprise market such as Cisco®Unified Communications, Cisco WebEx® and Cisco TelePresence®. These services will be available in Mexico at a national level on 30 August and later on in Latin America.

In the area of unified communications, Telmex will integrate Cisco's technology in two of its main offers:

Managed Unified Communications: Addressed to middle and large businesses from hundreds to thousands of users, the service will be based on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager platform, allowing customers to deploy a collaboration integrated strategy that includes IP telephony, unified messaging, mobility, presence, collaboration via web and conference. All these services will be managed and supported by highly qualified experts and accessible through the payment of a monthly fee per user or site.

Comunica Plus: The first 100 percent IP telephony system, "Comunica Plus" is a package for small and medium-sized businesses with 8 to 100 users, allowing them to have advanced collaboration solutions similar to the ones used by big companies, like presence, integration of voice mail with e-mail and smartphones, among others. It will allow companies to increase its productivity at affordable prices through a monthly fee.

Also, the company will offer to the enterprise market the Web conference solution of Telmex, a collaboration integrated service offered via Internet. Thus, Telmex is the first advanced services provider in telecommunications in Mexico capable of offering audio conferences integrated with WebEx®solutions.

Cisco WebEx® allows users to participate in calls from different geographical points and from any telephone or PC, Mac or iPad, among other devices. The integration of Web functions like instant messaging and video add a visual component to the conference, allowing participants to collaborate in real time, sharing documents or the desktop, and blocking or silencing undesired or noisy participants during the conference.

The relationship with Cisco has allowed Telmex, as of April this year, to offer telepresence services based on Cisco TelePresence technology, including:

  • Managed telepresence: This allows end-to-end or multipoint connectivity among the different sites of the customer's company, with a unique experience of images in real size and the possibility of scheduling them easily via e-mail and starting them with just the push of one button.
  • Intercompany telepresence: Through an agreement with AT&T, telepresence rooms with Cisco technology can be connected among different companies, allowing them to increase their collaboration with customers, suppliers and partners, and helping to guarantee easy and highly secure communication that can be scheduled via an Internet portal. Cisco provides telecommunication suppliers with a full reference architecture which facilitates calls between the different networks of different companies in a safe way, helping to ensure that routes, addresses or data are not mixed up.
  • Public telepresence suites: They are the first of their kind in Latin America, allowing companies of any size or individual users to access this kind of communication system. Users use the rooms equipped with Cisco TelePresence technology paying by the hour.

With this portfolio of Cisco collaboration solutions, Telmex is offering companies state-of-the-art technology in telecommunication services, fostering productivity and competitiveness. Companies can rely on a technology partner that optimizes resources and allows them to focus on their businesses
